Last week I read an article about the Glendale School District. The School District decided it was time to take a stand against cyber-bullying. They decided it was a good idea to search and monitor every student's day to day affairs on social media. I believe that it is very smart for Glendale to watch what their student are doing online. We need to take a stand against cyber-bullying. Some people may argue that this is not a good idea and that students should have privacy out of school. I think that if people are argueing, then they have something to hide online. Many students are suffering everyday from cyber-bullying and something needs to be done to stop it. Some of the kids even choose to take their lives because they can not deal with all the hatred from their peers. "Two students committed suicide last year". The number two seems like a small number, but two people should never take their lives because of what other people say. This shows that something needs to be done in not just the Glendale School District, but school district's all over the world.
If this were to happen at San Ramon, I would feel very safe and happy. I love this school but some of the things that people say to eachother are very hurtful. Someone very close to me almost committed suicide because of the things that some people have said online to him. I hate how the nicest people are the ones that get hurt the most. Our school and others schools need to monitor social media posts online so we can stop people from throwing their lives away. Almost everyday I look at twitter and see students saying mean things and fighting on the internet with their words. My best friend left this school because she couldn't stand what people would say about some of the students at San Ramon. I hate hearing people swear at eachother and getting mad at eachother. In order to keep a safe and welcoming school, San Ramon should start to monitor everything that happens online to keep people from hurting their peers and themselves.
